The world of writing opened up to me in 1999 when my kids were younger and we took turns telling made up stories to each other. They asked a lot of questions that got me thinking about writing books – mainly to answer their questions. My first attempt at writing a book was to answer the question: What did kids do for fun in ancient times? I wrote about a boy’s adventures in ancient native America. And it all took off from there.
Interesting facts about me:
- I once made a chocolate cake with a gold dusted chocolate guitar on top for Jackson Browne when he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
- I have gephyrophobia
- I am related to Jim Bowie of Alamo fame (and Bowie knife fame) but not to singer David Bowie
- I have also been: A typesetter, a pastry chef, a paralegal, a mediator and a back up singer in my brother’s band (for one gig)
- I love horror movies
